Chronicle Books Selects TeleScope to Improve Workflow and Bring Books to Market Faster

North Plains Extends Dominance As The Irrefutable Market Leader in Digital Asset Management Publishing

TORONTO – August 20, 2008 -- North Plains Systems the leading provider of video and digital asset management (VAM and DAM) software and solutions, today announced that Chronicle Books has joined a growing number of leading publishers such as Hachette Filipacchi Media, HarperCollins Publishers, Harcourt, Thomson, Quebecor World Premedia, Rodale, Scholastic, Editis, and Hachette Book Group that rely on TeleScope to manage their enterprise-wide digital publishing workflows.

TeleScope is a scalable digital asset management solution providing full workflow support from creation, to production, to delivery. Over the years, North Plains has continued to experience strong growth in publishing, where providers face increasing challenges in managing their digital content. Once deployed, TeleScope serves as a turn-key end-to-end publishing platform that leading publishers rely on to manage all publishing assets such as books, e-books, and magazines.

Chronicle Books, a San Francisco-based publisher of art, architecture, photography and children’s books, plans to use TeleScope principally as a workflow tool to drive efficiencies throughout the publishing process. Using TeleScope, Chronicle can automate series of tasks that workers used to handle on a piecemeal basis , helping them to keep better track of approvals, delivery of assets, version histories and editing schedules. In addition, Chronicle Books’ use of TeleScope enables the company to streamline its content delivery to its distributor, Hachette Book Group, which has implemented a North Plains system of its own.

“We see TeleScope as a real facilitator for us, helping us share resources, collaborate and move projects through the make process,” said Shona Burns, Executive Director of Production Development at Chronicle Books. “With TeleScope managing our digital content, our team can spend less time chasing assets and do an even better job of meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality publications.”

“We continue to witness the global trend of publishers transitioning from print publishing to digital publishing,” explains Hassan Kotob, President & CEO of North Plains. “The decision by Chronicle Books to choose the TeleScope digital asset management solution will drive real process improvements and savings in their organization. North Plains is known as the DAM provider of choice in the publishing industry because we understand that our customers need tools to help them increase productivity, cut production time, shave costs and generate new revenue streams.”
