Issue No. 19 - the Best DAM Newsletter

VOL. 19 :: JUNE 2008

Launch: TeleScope OnDemand!
"We made the decision to shift to a hosted model to concentrate on our core competencies, but we still needed a DAM solution that provided enterprise-class functionality. TeleScope OnDemand provided everything we were looking for, including powerful workflow and collaboration features, a flexible interface, choices of additional modules that suit our unique needs, a smooth migration path to a full installed version if we choose, and North Plains’ strong reputation in the marketplace. We look forward to leveraging real, tangible benefits from our new DAM solution. "

Installed or Hosted DAM?

Read More.. Expand»

Now that organizations have the choice, which DAM service is right for you?

According to market research firm Frost and Sullivan, DAM is now a "must-have" for organizations looking at gaining marketing efficiency.

“The beauty of DAM is that it not only helps in significant cost reduction but now we have started getting tangible evidence of DAM going further to help in added revenue generation,” writes Mukul Krishna, who is Global Director for Frost and Sullivan’s Digital Media practice.

With hosted solutions like TeleScope OnDemand, organizations both large and small can take advantage of the benefits that digital asset management provides. In fact, Frost & Sullivan’s research concluded that the SaaS (Software as a Service) segment made up 10 percent of the $350 million DAM market in 2006 and will grow at more than 30 percent annually.

“Market evolution aided by infrastructural and technology advancements in storage, security, bandwidth, rich internet applications and web services have created a landscape that puts customers in a situation that they never were in before. They have choices. Customers have a wide array of solutions and many flavors of DAM to choose from — both installed and hosted.”

By leveraging the performance and security of Sun technology and NaviSite’s global, state-of-the-art data center, TeleScope OnDemand empowers businesses with powerful enterprise-capable digital asset management at a lower initial price point than an installed solution.

This makes hosted solutions ideal for small and midsize businesses, Fortune 1000 marketing departments, and global brand leaders that require a low cost, low maintenance DAM solution that can be up and running in days.

With a hosted DAM model, these organizations can free-up valuable internal IT resources to do more productive tasks. Another advantage is the flexibility to adapt to evolving requirements. For example, should the organization require that the solution be brought in-house, an easy upgrade path to a fully installed version of the DAM system should make this transition as simple as possible.

For larger organizations with more comprehensive needs, installed DAM solutions continue to offer the best enterprise-wide support with a broad range of functionality and configurability to support specific needs.

When it comes to choosing the best DAM solution for your organization, according to Frost and Sullivan, only through a thorough needs assessment process should an organization determine the best path to take — installed or hosted - and then chose a vendor accordingly. A good place to start might be North Plains' Solution Builder Application. By asking a few basic questions about your organization, you can very quickly filter through to the solution that best fits your needs.

GROWING DEMAND FOR ON DEMAND
North Plains is a leader in Digital Asset Management solutions. Its products are often involved in the customer's creative lifecycle. The company's TeleScope platform helps customers find, manage, and distribute rich media content such as images, graphics, video, and audio.

North Plains wanted to offer a convenient and cost-effective alternative for organizations to gain access to its TeleScope solution. Specifically, the company wanted to explore the on-demand or software-as-a-service (SaaS) model - as a way for organizations to quickly gain access to robust digital management functionality without incurring up-front capital costs, or having to host and manage their own system.
