"The management of our digital assets and content is an integral part of Thomson Learning's vision of providing interactive, customizable, integrated learning and teaching solutions. As we focus on expanding our deployment and deepening the integration of our rights management and permissions systems, it is critical that we have the right partnership in place. North Plains' track record and industry-leading technology was the right choice for us to trust managing our extensive and valuable digital content."

"We've been able to create a complex environment by linking TeleScope to existing contract and rights management systems for simplified security access setup through to various B2B sites for distribution of content."

"In the case of the movie Terminator 3, the director made a late decision to change the music in two reels. We had already reclaimed the temporary media storage to use on other projects, but the files were stored in TeleScope, so we were able to find all the music stems for correct reels of the theatrical version. We found the elements we were looking for, and we restored them by using TeleScope’s version control capability. Similarly, three weeks after a theatrical release, an editor needed print masters to prepare a TV version: TeleScope was able to give him everything he needed. The television version will be created from what’s in TeleScope, and when he comes back with the new version TeleScope will automatically recognize the relationship between the two versions and both will be available as a source for further repurposing. That saves Sony Pictures an enormous amount of time and money."

"We took a business-based approach with the TeleScope implementation, and laid an enterprise framework on which to build, then rolled out to two very large divisions to start. With targeted releases to these individual business units we were able to go from zero to enterprise within seven short months."

"We needed an extremely flexible system that could manage our diverse learning assets and easily deliver them to educators across our state."

"Given that the marketplace had evolved towards enterprise solutions, HarperCollins was looking to embrace new tools and technologies to leapfrog ahead. We’ve integrated TeleScope with our legacy systems both to push data into TeleScope as well as to pull data from TeleScope. For example, we take editorial metadata from our title database and push that data into TeleScope for relevant asset(s). We also pull data out of TeleScope and feed it into other in-house developed systems, such as our Catalog Generation System."

"We've built a great deal of customization around TeleScope.web and have been able to commercialize the development process for our ASP business with ease using North Plains’ highly extendable platform. Now, customization and deployment are part of our operational process, rather than using all of our development resources. TeleScope has enabled us to easily adapt to complex functionality requirements and allows us to meet the strict demands our clients place on us - given the various asset types we must support at a drop of the hat."

"We are seeing solid use amongst our U.S.-based divisions out of the gate, and are already hearing great suggestions about how to extend TeleScope’s use and benefits, both locally and globally. Our strategic focus is now on detailed ROI reporting, to make sure content is going in on time and is being reused most efficiently. We will then continue our strategic rollout to our worldwide divisions. Ultimately, we are looking for a quantifiable contraction in our time to market for new products."

"North Plains Systems' TeleScope Hybrid File System offers a unique advantage to advertising agencies and other organizations that produce compound documents. The Hybrid File System is not only a secure managed file repository but can also be mounted, read-only, on the desktops of creative workers. This means that users need only check out or copy documents they need to edit. In particular, compound layouts can be checked out, edited, and printed without making unmanaged copies of linked art files, to which the compound documents can reach through the desktop mount. Every other enterprise class DAM system requires the user to make unmanaged copies of all linked files every time a compound document is printed. Such unmanaged copies are an open invitation to unmanaged revisions, which, in turn, defeats the purpose of DAM. I believe the Hybrid File System is the only repository design in the DAM market compatible with the needs of advertising agencies."

"We got immediate results. People just began using TeleScope; they seem to take more responsibility for company assets and take care in putting them in the right place. They see how it benefits them. I'm pretty happy with the way they’ve responded. Today, we can find old jobs within 30 seconds and turn them around in an hour, where before that could have taken days. Yes, this saves money."

"We implemented TeleScope as an asset management system in 1996. It was the first step to a fully digital workflow that has reduced cycle time, a reduction in staff, costs associated with prepress, and press overtime costs.... We now maintain over 60,000 images with TeleScope tracking them all.... I would highly recommend this product to anyone wishing to get their assets under control and move into the digital age."

"Before the TeleScope system, we handled our images all by hand, using file folders and file cabinets - all hard copy and 2" x 2" negatives. Needless to say this was very tedious and time consuming, expensive to file, and difficult to retrieve the images we needed. We anticipate saving $10,000 to $20,000 per year on film and processing plus another $60,000 in staff time savings. All the staff and allied personnel consider the use of TeleScope a real efficiency boost. It eliminated all the tedious little jobs of the old manual process."

"As a developer and TeleScope administrator, what I really like about TeleScope is the I-Piece technology. The ability to build custom I-Pieces to support new file types or implement custom functionality is a feature I wish more applications had. Deployment of new or updated I-Pieces to all our TeleScope users is a breeze. All we have to do is register the I-Piece with the TeleScope Director, after that the TeleScope Viewer takes care of automatically downloading the I-Piece to each user. It can't get much easier than that."

"I have worked with TeleScope for almost two years now, Eleven years in the Data Management field and I love working with the TeleScope program! TeleScope is in constant use daily, the program has held up with thousands of images I can process through it every day. The interface is very user friendly. North Plains is always up to date on the latest file formats. Best of all there has never been a "testing" stage. No down time in our productivity. Everything works smoothly and I would never work with any other Data Management System but TeleScope!"
