FT Press is selling stripped-down, 1,000- to 2,000-word versions of books, for $1.99, and a new series of essays of about 5,000 words, for $2.99….

I am expecting that we are going to see more and more of these types of offerings. The ability for flexible electronic only content provides options for publishers to extend beyond the traditional concepts of a book. The ability for “bite size” content is not only a win on the Kindle , but also for smart phone consumption (think $0.99 iPhone/iPad app pricing). The pricing can go the other direction too with bundles of products…get a front list title and three back list titles for 50% more as an idea.
